SCOPE OF WORK AND DELIVERABLES – Needs Assessment: Conduct a comprehensive needs assessment to identify the current capabilities and gaps in university management related to managing green and digital entrepreneurship programs. – Design Training Path: Develop program manuals including marketing, recruitment and program management and monitoring tools to be transferred to university managers with the ultimate goal of facilitating management of green and digital entrepreneurial programs. – Execution of Training Path: select and supporting the training of university managers both online and in presence as well as assess competences accrued by university managers, design and execute remediation plans, deliver evaluation reports. – Program Execution: support partner universities in the execution of green and digital entrepreneurship program, assess quality of delivery by partner universities, support impact measurement of programs on participants. The consultant will be responsible for coordinating all the university managers across all the universities. REMUNERATION – The maximum gross salary for this position is €1,000 per month. – 3 months’ probation period and thereafter 1 to 3 years renewable upon review. – The salary will be paid in Euros. The project has four main objectives. Increase commercialization and profitability of agriculture producers. Increase the institutional capacity of market actors. Improve market access and quality of business services. Improve the enabling environment for local actors and investors. The Mastercard Foundation Fund for Resilience and Prosperity’s newly established Agribusiness Challenge Fund calls for proposals from African SMEs and entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector. The fund seeks to support SMEs that can create dignified and fulfilling work for young people, starting with a focus on the agriculture sector. SMEs are to be selected based on their innovative, practical, and scalable businesses. The Mastercard Foundation Fund for Resilience and Prosperity has launched an Agribusiness Challenge Fund, calling for proposals from SMEs in the agriculture sector that can create work opportunities at scale for young women and men, young persons with disabilities, and refugee youth. The Mastercard Foundation Fund for Resilience and Prosperity is a new fund established following the successful conclusion of the Mastercard Foundation Fund for Rural Prosperity, which was in operation for eight years from 2014 to 2023 and supported 38 participant businesses from 15 countries in Africa. These businesses were able to innovate and scale financial products and services targeting the rural population and further enable financial inclusion for over 5.3 million people. The Agribusiness Challenge Fund will provide SMEs with innovative and commercially viable agribusinesses across 20 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa the opportunity to receive support to upscale their businesses in a bid to create sustainable employment opportunities for young people, with particular focus on young women. Selected SMEs will receive support from the Fund, including grants ranging from US$ 500,000 to US$ 2,500,000, disbursed over a 3-year period, based on the applicants’ development stage, scalability and business model, in accordance with agreed periodic milestone targets. The funding structure will be determined on a case-by-case basis after evaluating proposals and organizations. Additional support to successful applicants will include tailored technical assistance in alignment with FRP objectives over the 3-year period. The Agribusiness Challenge Fund is the first of several sector-focused calls for proposals that the Fund will launch focused on the potential of the SMEs to create work opportunities at scale. The Agribusiness Challenge Fund targets SMEs in the following 20 Sub-Saharan Africa countries: Kenya, Benin, Burundi, Botswana, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, DRC, Ethiopia, Ghana, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia. “The Mastercard Foundation is collaborating with a network of partners to create job opportunities for young people across Sub-Saharan Africa, in line with our Young Africa Works strategy. EPC 2024 is slated for 19 September 2024 at the Accra International Conference Centre as part of activities for the 7th. Ghana Industrial Summit and Exhibition (GISE). Submissions (including both a video pitch and pitch deck) can be edited until the deadline. 2. Pitch Video Presentation & Deck Upload a short pitch video presentation including your pitch deck. This video can be submitted as a YouTube link on your YouNoodle application. The video should be a maximum of 5 minutes long and include the following details: Problem Explain the problem that you are solving and how consumers will benefit from your solution. Use a story to paint the picture so investors can understand your business. Vision Explain your vision and the mission of your company. Keep it short and straight to the point. About the Team Highlight your team members’ expertise and how these competencies and skills will contribute to the startup. Shell Foundation and the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) aims to increase farmer incomes by reducing post-harvest losses in South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa. To accomplish this objective, it is necessary to implement scalable, cost-effective solutions that cater to the post-harvest requirements of smallholder farmers. These solutions should encourage sustainable agricultural practices while harnessing the benefits of clean energy technologies. About the Prize The Post Harvest Loss Innovation Prize is seeking innovative solutions that reduce post-harvest loss for smallholder farmers in emerging markets. Funding from the prize is unrestricted. This prize offers more than just a $50,000 financial reward for the winning applicant. Finalists gain access to a network of experienced industry leaders and receive media exposure to showcase their innovation. The winner will also benefit from access to Factor E’s post investment support . Gain the resources and recognition you need to accelerate your agritech journey, grow your innovation, and create impact. Applications will be reviewed by the Factor E investment team, and the top five finalists will be announced on September 17th. The final award announcement will be on September 25, 2024. How will applications be assessed? We prioritize innovative solutions with the potential to create substantial impact within our target markets. While not all criteria are mandatory, we evaluate submissions based on the following key factors: – Innovation: The innovation must be for smallholder farmers. Submissions should demonstrate a novel approach to solving a problem faced by farmers in emerging markets. Innovative solutions are defined as technologies, business models, hardware and/or software that have the potential to become commercially viable. – Solution Validation: We are seeking solutions that have undergone successful testing, either in a controlled laboratory environment or directly in the field. – Global Applicability: Innovations can come from any geography globally but must have relevance for direct application in South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa with the ability to scale to other emerging markets in the future. – Gender Impact: We prioritize solutions with a demonstrably positive impact on female farmers. – Scalability and Reach: The ideal solution should have a clear path to scale with significant commercial returns in the future. The technology should have a direct economic impact with the potential to empower over 1 million farmers and demonstrate future return on investment (ROI). – Farm-Level Implementation: The solution should be designed for use by farmers, not through retail channels. – Minimal Behavioral Change: Solutions with a low barrier to adoption are preferred. They should require minimal adjustments to farmers’ existing routines. – Financial Traction: Evidence of progress towards financial sustainability is a positive factor. Prior fundraising success is also considered. – Technology Readiness Level (TRL): We look for well-developed technologies at or beyond the validation stage, with preferably existing paying customers. – Founding Team: A strong, balanced, and diverse founding team with a proven and visionary leader (CEO) is crucial.
