Findings from a recent report from the World Food Programme (WFP) estimate that 1.05 million people in Ghana stood to be hit by food insecurity between June and August 2024. With the issue of food insecurity being most prevalent in Northern Ghana and rural communities.
Boasting a rich agricultural heritage and diverse natural resources, Ghana should ideally be a bastion of agricultural productivity. However, persistent issues such as climate variability, inefficient supply chains, and limited access to modern agricultural practices have posed significant obstacles to attaining food security for its population in recent years.
Recognizing the urgent need for innovative digital solutions in neutralizing the threats to Ghana’s food security, the 5th edition of the Entrepreneurship Pitch Contest (EPC) aims to harness the entrepreneurial spirit of the Ghanaian youth in tackling these pressing food security issues in a manner that is innovative, embraces inclusion and drives green development.
EPC 2024 is slated for 19 September 2024 at the Accra International Conference Centre as part of activities for the 7th. Ghana Industrial Summit and Exhibition (GISE).
All five selected finalists will win a trip (round trip and accommodation) to Accra to participate in the GISE.
This year’s contest aligns with broader national and global goals of achieving food security, reducing poverty, and fostering resilience to climate change impacts.
